Precoa Earns Top Midsize Company Honors
The secret is officially out — Precoa is an incredible place to work!
As it celebrates its 10-year anniversary this fall, the Preneed Company of America was honored as the top midsize company to work for in Oregon and Southwest Washington on The Oregonian newspaper’s Top Workplaces 2014 list. Precoa was No. 1 among the 30 companies that earned Top Workplaces distinction in the midsize category. Over 1,000 businesses of all sizes throughout the region were invited to participate in the confidential employee survey.
It was the rapidly expanding company’s third top-5 finish in as many years participating in the Top Workplaces survey. Precoa was categorized as a midsize company (150-499 employees) for the first time after competing in the small company category (fewer than 150 employees) in 2013 and 2012.
“We have the best employees in the state of Oregon,” said CEO and co-founder Mark Hornibrook. “It’s a family here and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.”
Fellow CEO and co-founder Bret Davis said the achievement reflected the strong belief Precoa employees have in the company’s vision to help families across America through preplanning.
“The members of our Precoa family have embraced the importance of the work we do,” Davis said. “I am proud to be part of an amazing team that never stops working to find the best ways to serve families, funeral homes, and our employees.”
For president Michael Hornibrook, the top ranking boiled down to something very simple.
“People enjoy being here, they enjoy what they do, and they enjoy the people they work with,” he said. “To me that’s what really makes a company great. We have built a true family atmosphere here and people love coming to work each day.”
Precoa, which is projected to surpass $200 million in sales this year, is celebrating its 10th year of preneed sales and marketing this fall. According to Davis, the Top Workplaces recognition makes the anniversary all the more special.
“When this company was launched from a dining room table in 2004, I could never have envisioned the amazing success and growth that we’ve seen,” he said.
“It’s the icing on our 10-year anniversary cake,” Mark Hornibrook said. “Having a company like this filled with people that are kind to each other and are true craftsman at what they do - it’s what you dream and hope for.”
